Beaches of Martinique

The beaches of Martinique are among the most beautiful in the world. Our island owes its reputation to many factors, including its natural assets: a volcanic soil of exceptional fertility, a relief in the north, very mountainous, which protects large parts of our coastline. And in the south, coral reefs and lagoons that shelter numerous white sand beaches, cradle of thousands of species of fish, molluscs and shellfish.

The beaches of the south are the most protected, thanks to the “cayes”, coral reefs that often form a protective lagoon. The beaches of the Caribbean coast are also under the wind, they do not suffer the assaults of the waves of the Atlantic.

While the north coast, on the Atlantic side, offers more dynamic baths.
On the north coast, on the Caribbean side, everything is more peaceful. You can discover the pleasure of black sand beaches. Often small discreet creeks. The water is of a rare purity, it forms a nice contrast with the volcanic sand.
The whole island is bathed in a tropical climate, tempered by the trade winds, which provides a gentle way of life accentuated by turquoise waters.

Here, the beach is a place of relaxation and conviviality. Martinique’s beaches are ideal for resting, sunbathing on the fine sand, swimming or sleeping in the shade of coconut trees. When you dive into the Caribbean waters, this feeling of happiness can only increase. The water temperature is almost always a pleasant 25° Celsius (77° Fahrenheit).
Many beaches offer a variety of water sports, including jet skiing, tug-of-war, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and surfing. For the less adventurous, there are even canoes and pedal boats to enjoy in peace.
There are generally no dangerous animals at sea, but it is advisable to take precautions against jellyfish. Also avoid contact with the black sea urchins that hang from the rocks.

We will give you the advice that we give to our cousins passing through the country. We live here, we know the intricacies and the little secret corners.
Enjoy your stay in Martinique.

Martinique is the cradle of a special culture, neither French nor American, but Creole. Land of a unique gastronomy, fruit of a crossbreeding, of a tropical music and a literature recognized all over the world.
